Sorry I haven’t posted for a while; I have been very busy starting my new internship which is all very exciting. But I really wanted to post about my experience at London Fashion Week!
So, as you many of you probably know; London Fashion Week is not open to the public it’s focused towards Press, Buyers and special guests. It’s London Fashion Week Festival the week after which is mainly for the public. So, there was absolutely no way I would be able to go. (*cry*)
Then almost right on cue I received an email through my college (The Fashion Retail Academy) asking if anyone was able to work at London Fashion Week. YAAAAAS!
So of course I jumped at the opportunity and bright and early I headed to 180 Strand. Where I was working for ON|OFF Presents. They basically showcase emerging international fashion designers of their time. More than likely, ON|OFF have offered these designers their first international stage so they have the opportunity to promote their creativity. My job role was to prep the seats, help out back stage and then work front of house to show people to their seats as they came in ready for the show. Then just before the show started, once everyone was seated I was able to sit right at the front (on the floor I might add). But booooyy was it worth it.
You may have noticed how the influence of space and a futuristic style has had a huge impact on fashion at the moment. Also incorporating inspiration from the futuristic aspects of 1960’s fashion. This was showcased largely throughout the show and can be seen currently in designer collections such and Chanel and Moncler. (You have to admit we all can’t resist a puffa jacket for this transitional season.)
The combination between ath-lesiure and smart clothing is stronger than ever and I have to say I am absolutely loving it! Smarter outfits are can be styled with Puffa Gilets underneath formal jackets, whilst tailored trousers can be paired with luxury trainers. Achieving the perfect contemporary look but also being super comfy at the same time.
This is my favourite collection from the ON|OFF show designed by Jack Irving. It brought such an excitement and element of fun to the show. You could hear the sound of the air pump attached to the models back which was inflating the designs as they walk through. This definitely brought theatre and fun to the show.
You could definitely translate these into your own outfits as we enter Winter. Through iridescent colouring and futuristic shapes and designs.
Just remember if you want something you can do it! Even if you have to be on your feet all day working for it.
Lots of love Han x
